
Healthy air conditioning: the doctor's advice
Summer often equals air conditioning. In the summer months, in fact, it appears in shops, restaurants and public transport, also raising the eternal dilemma of whether it is good or bad for your health.
Is air conditioning bad for you?
“Air conditioning provides relief from high temperatures and the ailments that can be associated with them, in particular for the most fragile categories of elderly people and children, so in itself it does not constitute a danger to our health.
The ailments that cold air can cause
Being in direct proximity to a flow of cold air can cause certain disorders, especially in subjects with a predisposition, such as:
muscle pain such as back pain and stiff neck, muscle cramps: the cold can contribute to stiffening the muscles;
sore throat: cold air can cause dehydration and dryness of the throat which in turn can cause burning;
headache: both due to the dehydration that can be induced by air conditioning, and due to the neuralgia that this can cause;
conjunctivitis or irritated eyes: air currents that are too cold and not very humid can cause irritation and consequent burning and/or tearing of the eyes;
colic, abdominal cramps and stomach ache, especially due to temperature changes, if you move from a hot to a cold environment or are sweaty.
